2017 Viewers’ Choice awards: Africa Magic Calls for Entries

Africa Magic has announced a call for entries for the 2017 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA. The award ceremony which is slated to hold on March 3 and 4, 2017 marks the fifth consecutive year of the awards. According to the organiser, entries are being accepted for 27 categories while the Trail Blazer category is not up for competition. 16 of these categories will be open to viewers and 11 decided by the AMVCA panel of judges. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released popular blogger, Mr. Abubakar Sidiq Usman, otherwise known as Abusidiq, who it arrested on Monday. Friends of the blogger, whose controversial arrest attracted criticism, confirmed to our correspondent that he regained his freedom around 6pm. The EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, on Monday said the blogger was “for offences bordering on cyber stalking”, adding that he had been offered administrative bail and would be released to his elected sureties. Gernot Rohr Signs Two-year Deal to Coach Super Eagles

For the first time in almost six months, the Super Eagles of Nigeria now has a substantive coach, as German tactician Gernot Rohr has signed a two-year deal to become technical adviser of the team. Pandemonium broke out, yesterday, when a 26-year-old herbalist, Ekene Oluka, allegedly shot and killed a 13-year-old, Obumuneme Oluka, while testing his anti-bullet charm on the deceased.
