Ports’ automation makes N127bn additional revenue – FG

President Muhammadu Buhari, weekend, said revenue from the nation’s ports catapulted from N57bn in 2005 to N184bn in 2015 due to automation of processes.

Buhari spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry/Financial Derivative Company Private Dialogue on Port Efficiency and Maritime Roadmap seminar which held in Lagos.

He said that his administration was not merely concerned with revenue generation in this area, adding: “We are convinced that thousands of jobs and shared prosperity can be created from a strategic development of the maritime sector.

He said that his administration was committed to creating enabling ecosystem for the various stakeholders in the sector to maximise their potentials and grow their capacities, disclosing that the administration would encourage   ease of doing business in Nigeria and trading across borders.
